Question : Grouping together Citrix server roles

Hi All,

We are looking into PS 4.5 Enterprise and, in particular, the different roles. Eventually, we want the whole company to use Citrix, so we're thinking about 2000 users max.

The plan was -

a) Zone Data Collector: Dedicated virtual server
b) Web Interface: Dedicated virtual server
c) Installation Manager, Packager, Package Management: Installed on most servers as normal build, but would be run from one server that holds the Network share point.
d) Streaming profiler server: Dedicated virtual server

Would be interested to know people's thoughts.

I have also have the following questions I was hoping someone could answer;

i) Is it possible to have two Web Interface servers for load balancing/redundancy. If so, how?
ii) How can you decide which server holds the XML Broker Server role? It's not a component I can see to install?

Many thanks in advance.

Answer : Grouping together Citrix server roles

a) good but also consider a preferred backup ZDC
b) make that two
c) that works
d) perfect
i) NLB is one way and is the cheapest
ii) all XenApp servers are XML Brokers.  If you are going to have a dedicated ZDC then most people use that server as the dedicated XML Broker.  A dedicated ZDC has no apps installed on it and services no users.  It makes the perfect candidate as the primary XML Broker for the WI servers.
