Question : Exchange 2003 mailbox move question.
|
|
We were moving exchange mailboxes from Server A to Server B. The process got stuck and it seems like it moved one user's mailbox from serverA to ServerB but it did not finish it, the mailbox now shows on both servers, server A has the active one, Server B has the mailbox with a redx on it. It does show a file and item size, and I was wondering, if I just try to move the mailbox again will it mesh everything together, or it will it error out.
Can I extract the email messages from the mailbox on ServerB with the redx add them to Server A and then initialize the move again. I moved all other mailboxes without a problem.
Can I add a temporary user and then attach that mailbox to him. What would be the best course of action.
Both servers are windows 2003 with exchange 2003 sp2

sorry I wasn't clear. I meant if the user in question can log into outlook and send/receive emails. how big the mailbox is and how long ago you moved the mailbox? I'd prefer not reconnecting this mailbox to a new user before troubleshooting. after running "cleanup agent" you have to refresh the view
check the moving mbx log at "drive:\Documents and Settings\Profile\My Documents\Exchange Task Wizard Logs folder" check if there is event id 9660 in application on both exchange servers when the user tries to log into outlook.
you can turn up diagnostic logging for mbx moving: 1. In Exchange System Manager, right-click the source server, and then click Properties. 2. Click Diagnostics Logging. 3. In the Services list, double-click MSExchangeIS, and then click System. 4. In the Categories list, click Move Mailbox. 5. Under Logging level, click Maximum, and then click OK.
