Question : CHKDSK in Vista
|
|
Anyone know the difference, in Windows Vista, between CHKDSK run at the command prompt and scheduling a CHKDSK in the properties sheet of a drive?
At the command prompt it seems there are three steps as opposed to five if you run CHKDSK at reboot.

Answer : CHKDSK in Vista

I don't believe that chkdsk has changed with the advent of Vista. If you run chkdsk /f, three cycles are run to repair the file system structure while, if you run chkdsk /r (implying /f), five cycles are run, the additional two used to check disk integrity and bad blocks.
