Question : access denied to external hard drive

I took an external drive from one of my servers and need to access the data from my home PC. Server is Win server 2003 and i think the file system on the ext drive is ntfs. My home PC is XP home. I can see the drive in explorer but I get 'access denied' when trying to view data. Is it because it belongs to the domain at work? Is there a workaround?

Answer : access denied to external hard drive

If you are running Windows XP Home Edition, you must start the computer in safe  mode, and then log on with an account that has administrative rights in order to  access the Security tab. Access to the Security tab is required in order to change security  permission. If you are running Windows XP Professional, you do not have to start  the computer in safe mode.
