Question : Illustrator - saving as PDF produces wishy washy colours

Hiya!

I've got an Illustrator file that is going to be printed at 300dpi. I'm pasting a piece of artwork in at 300dpi from photoshop in CMYK. My Illustrator file is set to CMYK. I can't find an option to set the dpi for a document in Illustrator, but I resterized the object once I had pasted it using Object->Rasterize and did so at 300dpi CMYK also. It looks just a vibrant colour-wise in AI as it does in Photoshop, but when I save it to PDF from AI CS it looks wishy washy when I open the PDF and I get the following warning:

"The document raster effects resolution is 72ppi or less".

Any ideas on what is causing these issues?

Hope u can help! :o)

Answer : Illustrator - saving as PDF produces wishy washy colours

Hi m175400,

Ok. Document Raster Effects is a setting that Illustrator uses when applying effects filters to raster images. These settings can be edited from Effect>Document Raster Effects. However, since you're not applying any raster effects to your document you can ignore that warning in the PDF Options dialog box. Also, if you're using a ICC profile when creating your art, it's better if you embed that profile at the moment of creating your PDF, so make sure Embed ICC Profiles is checked in your PDF Options.

What are you using to view the image? Acrobat Pro or the Reader?
