Question : Using Active X Control in Access Froms Generates License Error??

I have installed M/S Office 2003 Professional on my development machine to test an application in Access 2003.  Basically it's using the Windows Common Dialog active x to select a file found in the Comdlg32.ocx file.  I have downloaded and registered this file successfully.  At this point, I can use the active x control on an existing form but when I try to insert it into a new form, I get the error message ...

"You don't have the license required to use this Active X control".

I thought Office 2003 Professional was basically the Developer's Edition of Office which should have the proper license needed to used these active x controls when designing forms in Access.  Is there a separate Developer's edition that I need to purchase in order to have this functionality.

Thanks,

ET

No, that's not right. You'd need the Acess Developer's Extensions, which is what provides with the controls and the license to use them. Note that you may have many controls available for your use (programs install them all the time), but unless you've got the Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System (which is, basically, the ODE for 2003), or unless you've actually purchased those controls, you'll not have the license to use these controls.

Office Professional is nothing more than Office + Access, IIRC.
