Question : Code or Advice on how to use Excel Autofilter on a Protected document
I have a protected sheet in Excel that I would like to use the autofilter feature on. Problem is that autofilter does not work unless the sheet is unprotected and I can not allow the user the abilty to do anything to the data on the sheet at all. (nothing).
I have considered a couple of different approaches from entering some sort of custom, cell validation that would prevent cell edits, so I could leave the sheet unprotected. To creating a fake of the master sheet, and not caring what happens to it, then deleting the sheet after the autofiler result is passed to another sheet. Issue with that is I would then have to create Command buttons on the fake sheet with code assigned to them. I am pretty sure that you cannot use an autofilter in a listbox dynamically.
It seems to me that if I could select the cells in the data range and do a Custom data validation that would not allow edits to the cell in it, that it would do the trick and I do not have to code a thing.
Looking for some guidance working with autofilter in a protected sheet.
Please advise and thanks.
