Question : Accessing shared folder through internet using ip address

my friend share his folder over the internet using his ip address.
He asked me to type "//xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" in my windows explorer.
I managed to view his shared files using this method.
But its a bit slow, sometimes my windows even halt.
Is there any others way accessing his files?
e.g using internet explorer? ftp program? or external file manager software?

Try PC anywhere

this a good software. Logmein is also a good software.

When you enter through a network into another computer it does hang up depending on the usage of the external computer. He your friend is download or upload again this will affect your connection process with his computer.

PC anywhere would be one of the solution . It will open another windows. PC anywhere and logmein is like telnet. Providing you a complete access to his PC . But both of you and your friend should install on your PC which will be like a window of each other computer. Even he can take stuff from your PC the performance will be very good.
