Question : Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition - How to address more then 4GB of memory
|
|
I see a lot on this, but it's mostly just links to other sites.
I've got 3 x86 Blades with W2k3 EE 32bit on them. There is 8GB of memory per blade.
These are going to be configured as NLB Cluster Terminal Servers.
How do I address the other 4GB of memory that is in the blades? Use the boot.ini swithches? If so how?
Please don't link to a bunch of KB articles either.
Thanks, inverted

are you using enterprise edition or standard edition? your article title and question each say different things.
if it is standard editon then you are SOL, you can only use 4gb.
if you do in fact have enterprise edition then you need to add /PAE to your boot.ini
The following is an example of a Boot.ini file where the PAE switch has been added: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Enterprise" /fastdetect /PAE
reading the article is the smart thing to do. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283037
