Question : WSS 3.0 & OWA 2007 -> Linking calendars???
|
|
We have exchange 2007 running and have struggled with the public folders in OWA prior to the release of SP1.
I have read that SharePoint is likely the predecessor to public folders in exchange. We mainly use the calendaring function for our company calendars.
On my sharepoint site, I have created a couple of calendars in hopes to migrate our users to it. I see that I can link our outlook 2003/2007 clients to it, but can't create appointments through outlook, rather they have to be created within the sharepoint site.
Is there anyway around this?
Also, we have many users that use OWA and are used to being able to view the comapny calendar (public folders) within the OWA session. Is it possible to create a link within OWA so they can view the calendars on the sharepoint site or do they need to loginto the sharepoint site to view?
I want to integrate as much of this as possible.
Look forward to any responses.

While you would think that WSS/MOSS would have pretty decent Outlook integration, this is not the case unless you have Office 2007 as well as MOSS 2007. With Office 2003, SharePoint calendars will sync with Outlook, but it is a read only view of the calendar and can be viewed side-by-side with Outlook calendars. Office 2007 offers read-write capability as well as calendar overlay.
