Question : OWA folder list and button bar (navigation bar) missing

OK,

I've got a client who is logging in to an Exchange Server via OWA that's controlled by another company.  Today, she has no navigation bar when she logs into OWA yet claimes she had one previously.  The entire panel is gone and she cannot get to the Contacts, Calendar, Public folders, etc. because there are no buttons or folder list to choose from.  Any thoughts as to why this disappeared and how I can get it back?  Double-checked all her browser settings in IE and flushed them back to default.  Added the domain in to her Trusted Sites as *.domain.com.  Deleted cookies and temps, etc.  I have tested the login on another computer and the navigation bar is there.  Any help to get this resolved would be appriciated.

Answer : OWA folder list and button bar (navigation bar) missing

So, you say, other clients can, but a single machine has these problems, right?

This means, nothing to do with the server, as you can set a few general settings, but not client specific. Nevertheless, the web site is coming from the server.

Also you can see a folder, i.e. Inbox, but no navigation bar to click something else, right?
Can you see the frame, where the navigation bar usually should be?

A few possibilities to check:
First one is, that components on your client are damages. I'm not quite sure, if OWA uses components of Office Web Components, but maybe a try, to install them again. YOu can find OWC11 on your Office 2003 CD or you can download the newest version von MS download center. Some applications like project server web access are installing OWC components.

Second I experienced some issues with name resolution. Check the network setup on both machines if there are differences.

Browser settings you can also compare with the working machine.

Have you checked virus scanners, if some filetypes are blocked by scan engine?. Can you disable virus scanning for testing purposes?

Have you ever tried, to connect to the server on both machines with different logins, to verify, it's a machine specific problem and not a user specific problem? Means, can you logon on the working machine with the tested user of the non working system.

Last but not least, have you compared the Browser proxy settings (browser  -tools - internet options - connection)?

Your event log will show nothing, the interesting information can be found on the server, so its a good idea anyway to ask your mailbox provider to have a look at the event log of the server, if there is something, what may be interesting.
