Question : EXCHANGE 2007 SA and IS services do not start after reboot
I have AD and EX2K7 on the same 64bit box, when i bounce the server some of the exchange services including IS and SA do not load.
after signing into the server all of the services can be started manually. SA times out at first but after saying "starting" for about 10 mins, it starts.
Following error appears in logs:
Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGYSERVIC
E.EXE (PID=1536). Topology discovery failed, error 0x80040952 (LDAP_LOCAL_ERROR (Client-side internal error or bad LDAP message)). Look up the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) error code specified in the event description. To do this, use Microsoft Knowledge Base article 218185, "Microsoft LDAP Error Codes." Use the information in that article to learn more about the cause and resolution to this error. Use the Ping or PathPing command-line tools to test network connectivity to local domain controllers.
Answer : EXCHANGE 2007 SA and IS services do not start after reboot
i ran ntdsutil and saw that this directory had 2 ghost domain controllers, when i removed those everything started working as it should. i guess DS was trying to replicate on start up with a nonexistent dc
