Question : Video Controller (VGA compatible) not found
|
|
Hi,
I have recently formatted the hard drive on my laptop and i'm having trouble getting the drivers to get the various hardware working correctly.
It turns out that this is a reconditoined laptop and so locating the drivers has proved problematic.
I have gone through the system infor screen to locate the device and vendor ID and then used PCIDB to find the vendor and the chipset ;the reulst were chipset: Via Built in VGA Vendor: VIA technologies.
However i have looked at the VIA website ad googled the results but i cannot find the driver that i need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated with this.
Thanks.

Here's the source of the problem. First the software finds the hardware
Found matching hardware! Found InstID=PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3118&SUBSYS_C0151631&REV_02\4&1feb96e4&0&0008. Found Mfg line: 'VIA.Mfg'. Ln 0: 'viagfx_3204,PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3108'
Here it says the contents of the .INF doesn't describe the hardware it found
** INF does not describe detected hardware. DestroyTimer returned an error!
Try this version of the driver:
