Question : Why is XP Pro better than XP Home
|
|
What makes XP Pro so much better than XP home. It seems like XP Home is shunned. Please give a technical answer. I'd like to understand (technically) why Pro is better than home - not just that one has more stuff than the other.

The definition from Microsoft for a domain is the following:
"A domain is a logical grouping of networked computers that share a central directory database that contains user account and security information for resources within the domain."
Here's an example. I run a Windows 2003 Server where I have a domain setup. All of my users on my workstations log into this "domain" instead of logging locally into the workstation. On the server, there is a central database where all of the user names and passwords are located and can be managed. This avoids me having to go to an individual computer when a user forgets their password....I just log into the server.
