Question : norton ghost 10.0 Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job Error EA390719: Target disk full

THis seems to be a common problem with at least MY installs of ghost and acronis true image.

you walk through the wizard to create a backup process.  run it nightly, etc...

at some point, the hard drive you are saving the snapshots to gets full.  Typiaclly you have that full backup and then a bunch of incrementals.... ghost lets you say to start over after a month or whenever.  but where is the process to clean up the hard drive?!  At some point you run out of space with all those incrementals / monthly full backups, etc...

how are you supposed to configure ghost to delete the old images.  and if the hard drive has 30 GB used, the backup drive should be at least 2x that, right (barring some compression of the image?).  you want  at least 2 full backups?  If you have day 1 full, then day 2,3,4,5,6,7 are uincrementals. on the 8th day, you have it start over with a full backup, you don't want day 1 deleted yet.  if something happens that night, you don't have a full day 8 backup?  you need to delete day 1 no sooner than on the 3rd full backup, right?!

Select your backup.  Then "edit settings" and the wizard takes you through the various options.  Check the advanced options when you see that and you can define how many backup generations to keep.  Note, Ghost will NOT delete the last one until it sucessfully creates the next one.  So if you have 3 defined, you have to have room for 4 backups on disk.  That's a safety feature.
