Question : Virtual Memory on a Exchange 2003 Windows 2003 R2 Server
|
|
It's such a basic question but I'm getting a variety of opinions.
4 GB installed RAM. What's the best size we should set the virtual memory to?
This is one reference http://www.petri.co.il/pagefile_optimization.htm

I know it is 4095mb, but the only reference I can find is this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=197379 I don't know how you have managed to set pagefiles bigger than that.
I have seen too many servers with memory issues, that go away when I remove the RAM or suggest that the RAM is removed. It was one of the major reasons for switching over to 64bit processors for Exchange 2007, as 64bit allows the use of the all the RAM.
If all of the RAM is being used, then store.exe should be using it. If store.exe gets to 2gb and doesn't use any more then there is no point using it.
A 35gb database is not huge. 350gb is huge.
Simon.
