Question : Norton Cleansweep Error

Hi experts!

I have installed recently NSW 2005 Premier.  Whenever, I click within the main Main Menu "Cleansweep/Uninstall Wizard" I get an error message "Norton Cleansweep must be run as a nested installation from Norton SystemWorks. Setup will exit"  This message along with NSW acting likes it wants to install something, happens 2 or 3 times, then it eventually gets to the list of programs for uninstalling.  Its kind of frustrating having this pop-up every time I'm runing NSW and click this.  I've contacted Symantec support and they recommend uninstalling the whole suite and reinstalling.  I was hoping I wouldn't have to go that far since everything still seems to work, just an annoyance.  By the way, I used to have NSW 2003 installed, and Symantec suggests that's the reason I'm getting this message is because of the remnants of that version. The message won't come up again if I stay in NSW and run another uninstall, it's only if I exit out of the main suite again, and come back to the same menu, do I get this message.  Note: I have a WIN 2K, SP4 system with all the latest and greatest windows updates.

Thanks in Advance!
Cheers,Chris

Answer : Norton Cleansweep Error

Greetings, bman005 !

Chris, I have to agree with Symantec Tech support.  Norton System Works can create lots of hooks in your system.  Uninstall NSW 2005.  Get rid of the remnants of NSW 2005.

SymNRT Cleanup Utility

Then remove the remnants of NSW 2003 with Rnav2003.exe

Then install NSW 2005.

Best wishes!
