Question : Difference between pop3 and imap

What is really different between pop3 and imap when I have exchange 2003?

Answer : Difference between pop3 and imap

With POP 3, when a user checks his/her e-mail the messages are downloaded to the person's computer.  So say a person uses 2 different computers.....with POP...a user logs onto PC1 and checks her mail....then logs onto PC2 and checks her mail.......when she checked her mail on PC1 then the messages were all downloaded to that computer so when she logs on to PC2 she doesn't have any of her mail.

With IMAP.....all the messages (and folders) are stored on the server so no matter where a user checks their e-mail...the messages (and their folders) are always on the sever and the user can get to them from anywhere that they access their mail.
