Question : SATA DRIVE AND WINDOWS INSTALL

am trying to install a Maxtor 500 GB interal HD to a Hewlitt Packard Windows Media Center PC m7860n and every time i try it, i get a blue screen of death with the following error:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen restart your computer, If this screen appears again follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer.  Revmove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers.  Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated.
Rune CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)
i have tried installing the windows media center 2005 OEM on 3 drives witht he same result.  It goes through the process until it says starting Windows then it crashes.  the hard drive im trying now is brand new.  I think i may need the drivers for the sata hard drive but I do not know where to get them.  And the disk that came with the hard drive says to use it to boot from if windows isnt installed in the system but it does not work either it just brings me to a DOS screen, with 3 options- SETUP, DDS, and INSTALL but it wont let me use any of them.

Answer : SATA DRIVE AND WINDOWS INSTALL

As far as I can see there are options in the bios to run raid or standalone. You must either disable raid, or use two drives and create a raid array before attempting to load WIndows or run the recovery disks. A single drive should be in the black port on the mobo (SATA 1).
