Use a program like Revo uninstaller to uninstall acrobat. This will completely remove it. The normal uninstaller leaves a lot of folders, and registry keys behind. If you don't want to use Revo uninstaller, then after you uninstall acrobat search the windows drive for adobe and delete the folders associated with acrobat. Once you completely remove it, reinstall it and see if the problem goes away. Have you tried acrobat 8?
