Question : reinstall and keep the raid configuration

I have a macserver os x 10.4 that has raid drives setup on it. I am thinking of reinstalling the operating system or even upgrading it to 10.5 because I seem to be having issues. Can I reinstall or upgrade and not effect the raid setup or will I lose all of the data on those drives as well.

Answer : reinstall and keep the raid configuration

Do you have a raid controller card installed in the server ?

to confirm that if it is a software raid (build by the Operating System) then :

1. Open Disk Utility in (/Applications/Utilities).
2. Click the RAID tab

and see or let us know what configuration is over there  ; if there is configuration details for hard disks then it means it is a raid set up by the operating system.

In that case you can upgrade and it should maintain it but if you have to re-install the whole OS you would have to build it again.
