Question : New computer joining domain: "credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials"
New computer joining established domain from another domain: error received is "credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials". Established domain has no knowledge of new computer. Specifying valid Administrator account (with correct priveleges) and password. What can I do to correct this problem so I can add new computers to the domain?
Answer : New computer joining domain: "credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials"
I used to do these steps when this error occurred, on either a Win9x or a NT WorkStation PC, to rejoin the NT domain (I'd use the term W/S for the machine that is joining the new domain):
. Remove the W/S from which-ever domain it was in and put it back to a work-group (un-joined the domain).
. Reboot/Restart the W/S
. Then, rejoin the domain from the W/S, or better yet, create the new machine name first, from the Domain, then rejoin this W/S to the new domain.
Hope this would help.
