Question : Startup & Shutdown problems
I have 2 problems I cannot fix. On startup, windows reverts to 8 bit colour. Despite changing the display settings to 32bit, every time I switch the pc back on, it is back to 8 bit! How can I fix this permanently?
Also, when shutting down, I keep getting a message that wupdater.exe is not responding and I have to End Task manually before the pc will sgut down. I tried to remove it from the startup but then the system won't start in normal mode, and I get other message screens on startup. What is WUPDATER.EXE, and how can I remove it from Startup yet keep the system booting up in normal mode?
Please note XP is very new to me and I am a novice pc user. Running MSCONFIG and un-checking items from the startup tab is about as advanced as it gets for me, so any technical explanation will need to be an idiot guide step by step! I'm happy to up the points on offer if the correct responses require you to put a lot of effort into your responses.
