Question : United Kingdom  (?) specific Internet access problem

******* This is specific to UK only **********
I have Windows NT 4 workstation at home. Some time ago I
registered with BT for Internet access (with BT Anytime package). I have cancelled my account with BT for various reasons. However when I fire up Internet Explorer it shows
banner of 'Internet Explorer from BT Internet'. When I try to load any remote web page I get DNS Error or Server not found message. Local htm files are OK
Should I just upgrade Internet Explorer or register with another service provider? Question is
what am I upgrading ? Seems like I am sort of locked in to using BT server ? Must be some config file I can change to get round this or is a full upgrade the best way ?

Regards

It is time to clean this abandoned question up.

I am putting it on a clean up list for CS.

In the absence of any kind of recommendation, and not being familar with UK based problems, I am going to assume that this is unsolved and recommend deletion.

If anyone participating in the Q disagrees with the recommendation,
