Question : Installing Feather Linux on SanDisk 512 Mb

Hi experts! Thanks for helping! I am really insterested in using Feather Linux on a SanDisk 512 USB drive. I went to Feather Linux web page and got the most current .iso file which is feather-0.7.5.iso the i read the following post http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/Linux/Linux_Setup/Q_21361328.html?query=install+.iso+on+USB&clearTAFilter=true
I saved the feather-0.7.5.iso file to my desktop (i run Fedora Core 4 on HP Pavilion ze 4210) then i did this (while USB drive was plugged in and it was completely blank, formatted) I became root and typed
dd if=feather-0.7.5.iso of=/dev/sda
I made sure sda was my USB drive by checking dmesg log.
Right after i did the dd command, the flash drive started blinking interminantly, finally shell came back to a command promp without any errors. I tried turning my laptop off and restarting (adjusted BIOS to book with removable devices). I don't have a specific option in BIOS to boot from USB, i just have HD, CD, Removable devices and LAN, so for this i chose Removable devices... As a result, my Fedora Core still loads while the USB device is plugged in... Am i doing something wrong or is my laptop not capable of booking from USB, what do i do?!?!
Thanks a million!

Answer : Installing Feather Linux on SanDisk 512 Mb

The USB zip file is not available yet for 0.7.5.  You can try 0.7.4 from here:  http://feather.gus.to/mirror/feather-0.7.4-usb.zip
Use these instructions here:
http://featherlinux.berlios.de/usb-instructions.htm

Post back if you can't figure out the syslinux part.

If you have a floppy drive, but your computer doesn't support booting from usb, try booting your usb stick using this floppy image (or try a different computer):  ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/featherlinux/bootusb.img
