Question : Do i neeed ADAM installed on my Windows 2003 server?

I think a vendor installed this service called ADAM (Active Directory Application Mode) on my server awhile back.

1. Do I need it installed on my DC? From what i read, its an distributed database engine that developers use.
2. Does it provide anyother purpose and
3. can I disable it or uninstall if needed?

The reason why im askign is becase i see an error in the ADAM event log, not sure what to make of this error if anything , error comes up every 10 mins:

User Action
If ADAM is running under a local service account, it will be unable to update the data in the Active Directory. Consider changing the ADAM service account to either NetworkService or a domain account.

If ADAM is running under a domain user account, make sure this account has sufficient rights to create the serviceConnectionPoint object.

ServiceConnectionPoint object publication can be disabled for this instance by setting msDS-DisableForInstances attribute on the SCP publication configuration object.

forgot to mention - eventid.net suggests adding the account running ADAM to the global domain users group to get it to stop erroring: http://eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=2537&eventno=6157&source=ADAM%20[ISASTGCTRL]%20General&phase=1
