Question : Need to restore from NTUSER Registry but cannot read because corrupted

Hello!

I'd like to recreate a branch from a NTUSER.dat file from a computer that doesn't boot anymore to my current registry. The computer didn't boot anymore because of a corrupted profile.
I have the harddrive attached to my workstation now.

My Problem is as follows:
I tried to access the NTUSER.dat file from user admin with a registry viewer application (alien registry viewer) but I cannot open the trees.
Then I tried to acces another NTUSER.dat file from a different user admin1 on the same computer. There it worked.

So I came to the conclusion that the NTUSER.dat file is damaged/corrupted.
All other Registry Files like SOFTWARE, SAM are working.

How can I revive this NTUSER.dat file? It has all my WinSCP Serverconnections on it.
This is Windows Vista Buiness!

Thanks.

You probably won't be able to recover from a corrupted registry file. All you can try is to use the HD manufacturer's diagnostic utility and allow it to "repair" the HD if it finds errors, then run chkdsk /x on the drive and hope you can use the old profile after that.
