Question : How to change the Websphere Apllication Server name

Hi,

I am trying to do a silent installation of Standalone WebSphere Application Server V6.1 on windows 2003 server.

However, in the WAS response file I couldn't find the  field where I can provide the name of the websphere application server. Because, after the installation it creates an Application Server by name "server1".

So, I would like to give the desired name of the application server while installing the standalone WAS.

Moreover, I have uncommented  the field to not to include the sample applications.
-OPT feature="noFeature"  but i don't know for some reason it installed the sample applications too.

So, can anyone please help me how I can give the desired name of the Application server while doing Silent installation and to disable installing the sample applications.

Thanks,
WASAdmin

Answer : How to change the Websphere Apllication Server name

That is not an option that is recognized, or supported as part of the silent installation process.

To do what you want to do requires that you:

- install silently, and indicate that no profile should be created

Subsequently, use something like the manageProfiles command to create a profile with the desired server name.

Does this make sense?
