Question : Directories and Backlinks
|
|
Obviously most of us here know that back linking is an important element in the SEO process, one easy way to get these links is to use web directories. But there are tooo many out there.
What is everyones opnions on web directories for getting back links, Does anyone have any good ones that they regularly get good results or is there a comprehensive directory of directories...... lol overkill :)
Obviously i ma looking at the page ranks of the directories i am using, does it matter what the PR of the top level site is or the PR of the actual page where your link will lie.
Thanks
Shane

Shane my good man, i was just thinking about this yesterday i am happy you asked the question. My problem is there is no list for the uk but for .com site here you go : http://www.seocompany.ca/directory/free-web-directories.html?sort=prup# this is as comprehensive as it gets, it usually my starting list.
Here are some of my other links: http://www.isedb.com/ the list is on the left side nav for this one http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php another good one http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=2769&highlight=directory+submission a great post on the topic http://www.posttrades.com/forum/about286.html another good one http://www.webuildpages.com/directory/ another good list smaller though
if i had a team of link building monkeys i would have them work this stuff all day but i am not that lucky.
On another related topic you can also go the ROI route you can try the following http://www.adbrite.com which is a great link marketplace, http://www.linkadage.com/ is another good one http://www.text-link-ads.com/ haven't tried this one yet
and then there are all the other tactics after this is done ... press releases, rss feeds (they really stop readong and buld one now), article distribution and so on and so forth.
I hope i have achieved overkill :)
