I want to purchase Access 2003 and run it on my laptop that has Windows Vista. Are the two compatible?

A bigger problem than Vista compatibility is incompatibility between Access 2003 and Access 2007.
Word, Powerpoint and Excel have Office 2007 compatibility packs but Access doesn't. So if you're sharing files created in Access 2007 they must be saved in 2003 format. Even then there have been problems. For instance:
