Answer : can't open Access database from explorer or shortcut

The ones that don't work, do they have IE7 installed? Is the database is on a network share? Does it have a mapped drive?
If you open My Computer and browse to the mapped drive where the database is and look at the status bar on the bottom of the window (View --> Status Bar if it's not present) does it show that the drive is in the Local Intranet or does it show it is in the Internet?
If it shows Internet, close My Computer, open Internet Explorer and click --> Tools --> Internet Options --> Security --> Local Intranet --> Sites --> Advanced, and in the "Add this website..." box enter the ip address or the name of the computer where the drive is mapped and click Add. Close Internet Explorer and open My Computer and check to see that the zone has changed to Local Intranet....
Hope that helps.
