I am using NFS (NetApp mostly) and think that this is very good solution for low cost good performing systems. Of course it will be disaster to run Amdocs billing on such devices but for day by day needs it fantastic: cheap, easy to manage, fast, very stable and don't forgot NetApp snapshots ability.
I am even use to build ASM over NFS for our RAC testing.
All you need is good network infrastructure (1Gbit Ethernet and pure 1Gbit switches).
