Question : I cannot find my C: drive and my Clock on the TaskBar has "VIRUS ALERT"

Hello, I just got internet service 2 days ago and I belive my computer has been affected by a virus. I have downloaded McAfee Virus Scan and the icons that were linked to the virus on my desktop have been removed. However, I cannot locate by local C: drive and next to my clock on my taskbar there is this message "VIRUS ALERT!"
Can anyone help me please? I am running Windows XP.

Some things to try:

Try running smitfraudfix.

then get hijackthis and run that post a log here...

Also forget mcafee right now....

Use combofix as a last resort, as it can cause issues or problems.
