Question : CAN burn CD's but NOT DVD's (Nero: Reset Occured, etc.)

Hi there.

I'm having the most frustrating time with my DVD-burner.

When I try in nero 8 - it throws me an error saying "Reset Occured" after just a couple of seconds.
All the other softwares that I've tried does the same - BUT NOT WMP11 - where everything seams to work just fine!

CD-r works well for all the softwares.

This is what I've done so far:
- Tried many different softwares including Nero, ImgBurn, DeepBurner
- reflashed the cd-s firmware with the latest version (it was allready the latest, but I did it anyway)
- Tried different dvd-r manufactors.
- uninstalled the device from device manager and reinstalled it (it's using native windows drivers)
- It is a USB2 device so it shouldn't be about DMA - right?
- I've tried different cables and different USB-ports
I'm currently using Windows Vista x64 Ultimate.

1) use the Nero built in tests and diagnostics utility to see what it shows, since it gives quite a lot of data.

ALso look at the logs of all the burning SW that you used.

Between them, you may get enough info to point you in the right direction.

I have seen a lot of DVD burners die  when either the CD or DVD buring portion stops, since they are separate lasers.
