Question : Norton Ghost Device I/O failure

Norton Ghost works fine backing up my PC most of the time but fails repeatedly with Error E7D1001F: Unable to write to file. Error EBAB03F1: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

I thought this might be due to Volume Shadow Copy issue but it isn't.  Nor is it a hardware (drive WD 500GB MyBook) issue as this passes the detailed diagnostic that I have run.  I've also removed/re-installed ghost but still no joy.

Answer : Norton Ghost Device I/O failure

I have come to the conclusion over the past week that this problem is due entirely to Norton Ghost failing with fake hardware errors.  Acronis Home Backup 11 has worked without any problem.  In addition it is faster than Ghost and doesn't throttle the PC.
