Question : Recover Deleted Email - Exchange 2000

Hi,

One of my users accidentally deleted some of their email from the deleted items folder, I have just noticed (sods law) that the deleted items retention value is 0 days in the system manager. I have a full backup of the IS in Veritas but not a singular PST backup. Am I correct in thinking that if I restore the IS it will put all mailboxes back to how they were when the backup took place (is there a way to merge?)

The clients use connect using outlook 2000 and have no local  PST or OST

HEEEEEEEEEEEELLLPP

Answer : Recover Deleted Email - Exchange 2000

It is almost certainly too late to use the built in recovery tools.
Therefore you will have to go to a restore from backup method. For this you want to restore to another machine - a "Recovery Server". There is a white paper from Microsoft that explains how to set this up. You basically build another machine, then restore to that machine. Connect a copy of Outlook to this recovery server and pull out what you need in to a pst file. You can then import the data in to the live mailbox.

Simon.
