Question : Outlook stripping email attachments

Some of our employees are having problems where Outlook 2003 is stripping attachments that are being sent out.  It's very random, happens on some emails, does not on others.  Also, happens when we email 1 person in a company, but not another person inside the same company.

We are using Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Professional SP2 behind Exchange Server 2003 SP 2 on a Watchguard Firebox.

Answer : Outlook stripping email attachments

When the attachment is denied to the user do you get any log entries on the WG firebox traffic monitor; if yes, can you check if you are using SMTP proxy service for inbound traffic; and if you have enabled safe content [in Properties of SMTP proxy] you have allowed pdf (for eg) attachments.

If no log is received at WG when attachment is denied; then above would not be necessary. Though it does not look like WG problem still want to make sure that it is not! :)

Further can you check if you get any specific log message at the server itself; this might help in troubleshooting the problem.

Thank you.
