Question : Installing VMWare on 64bit Server 2008?
I have been pushing through Server 2008 / Exchange 2007 / 32/64bit issues all day.
Now I can't seem to get VMWare Server (lates edition) to work on Server 2008 Enterprise Edition 64bit (running on 64bit hardware0
I install it but says I need IIS components installed. So I installed everything IIS that I could find and uninstalled/reinstalled VMWare server with no luck. The issue is after installing, rebooting and opening up the VM console, I don't get the Local option. I only get the remote host option. When I type in the local hostname or IP, it says the remote host actively refused it.
I disabled UAV, the rest is pretty much a vanilla install.
Can someone clue me in on what I'm suppose to do to get VMWare Server running on a 64 bit Server 2008 system?
Thanks

Be sure to check your firewall settings and that the vmware services are running. You can for instance try to disable the windows firewall for a brief moment to test if it works then.
