Question : Error after loading BDD 2007 wim image
I use BDD 2007 to deploy custom image files. Typically I can install XP, all drivers and the apps I need and then run sysprep and manually capture an image with ImageX to deploy. This process isn't working on a new Dell laptop model E5500. Once the image finishes loading I receive this error:
Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.
At this point I can boot to an XP CD and run boofcfg /rebuild in the recovery console, and then I can boot so I know the image is loading. It seems like the boot.ini file is mangled in the deployment process or when the image is captured.
I need the system to boot correctly the first time after loading the image.
The initial install is done with an XP SP2 CD slipstreamed with the SATA AHCI drivers for the Latitude E5500. Also, if I create a ghost image from the same build I can load it just fine. I only run into the issue with BDD.
Answer : Error after loading BDD 2007 wim image
OK, I figured it out. It was the Dell partition. Once I deleted it and re-captured the image I was able to deploy it successfully.
I guess BDD wants C:\ to be the first partition.
