Question : Need to Stop IE from Opening JPG Files from an Access

I have set up a hyperlink in Microsoft Access to open up various image files (all *.jpg) out on our network.  Previously these would open in the application that each individual user had set up as the default for opening *.jpg files.  Now these image files are opening in Internet Explorer 6.  I cannot get these files to open in anything except IE even when I specifically set the default program to another option and set the open event using the Folder Options Advanced Edit File Types dialog.  The Browse in the same window check box is not selected.  Changes we have made since this worked are adding Office 2007 and doing the required Microsoft updates.    Please help, this is driving me and our users crazy.

Answer : Need to Stop IE from Opening JPG Files from an Access

Ok, I was getting frustrated with this issue, so I started trying to fiddle with just about every setting and application out on our desktops.  This is what worked for me&
I opened up the Microsoft Office Picture Manager application.  From the menu I selected Tools, then File Types.  On all the machines with the problem the check box for JPEG was not selected.  I selected the box, then OK, and then closed the application.

I returned to the Access database application and surprisingly the .JPG files opened in the users set default application and in most cases this is not Microsoft Office Picture Manager.  I do not understand why this would work, especially when the users set application is something totally different.  I also do not how this setting would get changed in the first place.  Interesting, but it does, and my problem is solved.

Thanks for your help.
