Question : Access Denied to network shares and offline files whilst synchronization is active
Hi,
Having a strange issue with offline file access and synchronization.
We have redirected our users "My Documents" folder to a network share. This works fine and the folder is available offline when there is no connectivity to network server.
However our issue occurs when the user starts a synchronization when they are back online. the synchronization works fine and if allowed to complete it will complete successfully.
Whilst the synchronization is active (i.e. files are being copied up) the user cannot access their My Documents folder, an Access Denied message is displayed, also they get an Access Denied message for any network drives that are mapped to the same server as the My documents folders are redirected to. Any drives mapped to different servers are fine.
Once the synchronization is complete the "My Documents" folder works fine again, as does any network shares located on the same server.
Has anyone seen this behaviour before?
Thanks
Dave
Answer : Access Denied to network shares and offline files whilst synchronization is active
Once Mobsync.exe (the app responsible for Client Side Caching is launched, it puts a lock on the folders that it is trying to synch, so as not to potentially corrupt the data being synched....
This is by design....
