Question : 554 maximum message size exceeded

when atempting to send an email >2mb the user gets this as a response.
"Task ' - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC6F) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).  The server responded: 554 maximum message size exceeded'"

how do I fix this on Exchange 2000?

Do you have maximum mail size on your SMTP Virtual Server??
To check this, do the following

1. Go to the Exchange System Manager
2. Go to Global Settings and right click Message delivery.
3. Go to the default tab and check if there is a max of sending mail
