Question : Google cache frequency
|
|
Hello,
From what I've read the frequency of google caching your site depends on page ranking, which in turns depends on links to your site. My site seems to get cached maybe every 2 months or less, a long time.
Am I right about this and how can I increase the frequency (is it just a matter of the linking?).
Any references for study, examples, theory etc all welcome in the answer, I realise this is not an exact science.
Thanks

Site caching is based on the time frame google picks. It relates to the frequency of content change on your site, coupled with your authority on a specific topic.
Have you tried Google Sitemaps? It's a great tool to make sure goole caches your site regularily. Sitemaps enables you to communicate directly with Google to keep them informed of all your web pages, and when you make changes to these pages. (http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/)
I've used this myself to increase the frequency of google caching. Of course, it's not beneficial to re-cache a site which hasn't been changed, but it sounds to me like you are changing the content frequently, just not having luck with the frequency of Google caching.
