Question : Windows picture and fax viewer not opening the image file which was requested?

Hello,

just recently I have found out that when looking into a folder which has many images and then opening up one of the images in the folder by double clicking it's icon - windows picture and fax viewer runs - But opens the picture which was located to the right of the selected image, and whats wrose is that even if I use the "privous image" button the original clicked on image still doesn't show up and actually get's skipped on - that actually makes me open the next image to the image I want to open just to get my original image opened up,

This must be some wrong configuration on that software,
please help me get things right - this is really ming blowing.
How can windows picture and fax viewer get fixed from this problem ?

Hi,
you will probably have to reinstall.

Click on Start
Click on "Run"
When the little box pops up, type:
regsvr32 /u %windir%\system32\shimgvw.dll
A process should start.
When that process has completed,
Click on Start, then Run... and type in:
regsvr32 /i %windir%\system32\shimgvw.dll

This should reinstall the Windows Fax and Picture Viewer on your computer.
(You may have to reboot after this for it to work.)
