Question : Outlook cannot find exchange - worth fixing or start again?

Hi,
Using VMWARE Server I setup a newtwork environment to help my knowledge.
I cloned a virtual instance of a Windows Server 2003 all service packed up.
I made one of the virtual servers a domian controller.
At first I had issues logging the second server onto the domain I had created. It turned out that I had not changed the SID so I ran this program:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897418.aspx
and that seemed to fix it.
On one of the servers I then installed Exchange 2003.
The installation gave an error and reseach concluded that it was because I had changed the SID late, it was causing some problems. So I rolled the exchange server back to just after cloning the virtual server,  and started again this time making sure the SID was the first thing I changed.

I gave the exchange server a new name as part of the SID change to avoid any confusion. Exchange seemed to all install well, however I noticed in ESM a reference to the the exchange server that had the failed installation.
But all seemed to work OK and I set up an email acocunt and tested OWA. All worked.
However when attempting to attach a client Windows XP running OFfice 2007 to the exchange server via Outlook 2007, it gives an error:
"The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action"

Also wihtin exchange manager, if I click on certain parts, I get the following error described here:
"An Exchange Server could not be found in the domain.
Check if the Microsoft System Attendant service is running on the Exchange Server.
ID no: c10308a2
Exchange System Manager
"
Research has pointed to this error fiix:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905809
I have not tried the fix above as quite comlicaticated.

So what do I do, Is this something that is fixable by a relative novice. OR do I just start all again, making sure I change my SID's right away.

Any input on this welcome.

Answer : Outlook cannot find exchange - worth fixing or start again?

I think the problem may be with the cloning. I never use the clone feature in VM; I just copy the vmdk file to a new folder and create a new machine using the copied disk file. Then I bring the server up with the nic set to host-only mode, change the machine name and run NewSID. Only after this do I switch the NIC to bridged so I can join the server to the domain.
