Question : Creating, Exporting, and Importing a signature template in Outlook 2002
I need to create a standardized signature template for my organization. I would like to be able to export this to a shared folder and have the users import this and be able to modify parts like their name.
Answer : Creating, Exporting, and Importing a signature template in Outlook 2002
You'll need to create three files depending on how the user has their Outlook set up (plain text, Rich Text, or HTML)
The signature files are kept in
\Documents and Settings\
\Appli
cation Data\Microsoft\Signatures
and will have extensions of .TXT, .RTF, and .HTM. These files can be edited with just about anything (like Word). You'll see that the file names are the same (except for the extension) because when you create a signature in Outlook, it automatically creates the three files based on the users input, but seperates them out for the three seperate mail formats available. When the user goes to the signature picker, they will only see one selection.
Depending on how you have your network set up you could script the file copy to the local user's machine and then just have them use the OPTIONS > MAIL FORMAT to pick and edit the signature template you've copied to their machine.
