Question : Automatic tentative appointment insertion in Calendar
|
|
I have Outlook 2002 SP3, and recently received a meeting announcement via email from an outside source which was automatically inserted into my Calendar as a tentative item. I have read in another post in this topic area that this is a default function of Outlook 2K and above. I also read on Microsoft's Office forum that a piece of code dubbed "sniffer" is responsible for this function. However, I do not want any unauthorized entries like this to appear in my Calendar unless I choose to put them there by either accepting the meeting from another source or entering them manually myself. Does anyone know of a setting in either Exchange (I have 2K3) or Outlook, or a registry hack, or third-party utility that will block such automatic entries?

Answer : Automatic tentative appointment insertion in Calendar

Here you go...I hope this workaround will provide you with the solution you desire:
Create a new folder called Appointments
Click Tools/Rules Wizard Start with a blank rule Check - Apply this rule after the message arrives Check - Uses the Meeting Request Form Check - Move it to [Appointments] Folder
Now, the rule will grab the appointment first - and move it to the corresponding folder. The meeting does not appear in the calendar.
Hope that helps. :^ )
