Question : How to remove a computer from selection list in backup job when computer is gone
I have a client running Widows XP Pro. It is a pretty sick computer. The backup job for it keeps failing. The computer will boot, but stays up for just a short time maybe 0-10 minutes. I do not think I have much data on it that I need. However I have a Backup Exec job that runs each night that tries to backup a few files on it. That causes each job to fail. I tried to edit the backup job, but when I try to uncheck the computer (to deselect the files), I am unable to do so because Backup Exec cannot communicate with the client computer because it is down. I might be abel to startup the client and do the unchecking, and I may do that. However I was wondering how you could do it if the client were totally dead. I suspect there has to be a way. Anybody know of a way? This computer is selected under Domains>Active Directory Domains.>My Domain>Compuater Name in the Backup exec selection window.

On Veritas 10d (I don't have version 12 installed) you go into the job properties, choose 'selections' in the left pane. In the right pane near the top, choose :text view" in the view format frame.
