I have a mac user on the network who uses Entourage X as an email client...all my other users are on Outlook 2003. The Outlook users want to share a group calendar between the office, and so far, I think I have the know-how to get the appropriate public folder setup for them to do that. My question is, has anyone set this up (calendar sharing) for Entourage & Outlook clients before?
Will my Entourage user be able to use the same calendar file as the Outlook users, is there any need to translate (import/export) the calendar from the Entourage machine [each time they need to access the file], or is there one standard between the two.
Also, if any of you has done such a thing, a brief overview of the steps (from the beginging) would be apprieciated. So far, I think they are as follows: 1) Setup Exchange on a Domain Controller (which I have done), 2) Create User accounts on Exchange server, 3) Create a public share with permissions for those users, 4) Setup Clients (Outlook) to share calendars using the public share...
what I am wholy unsure about is, 5) setting up the Entourage client. I tried for a while to have her export her data (using apple scripts) to Outlook and then run Outook under a Virtual PC session, but that hasn't gone over well as a solution...the apple folks in the office grimaced at hearing I was going to install VPC to get around the problem.
* My office currently gets their mail from a POP3 outside of the office, the Exchange server is only to facilitate the exchange of shared calendars. I have setup the Outlook clients to include logging onto the Exchange server at this point, but so far I have not actually moved forward with having the users create a shared calendar file (for fear that the format will be incompatible).
** Documentation for cross-client calendar sharing in exchange is pathetic...everything is for Outlook only...as if the whole world uses bloody Outlook...arrgh!!!
Anyway, I need help on this one. cantedview
