Question : Windows 95 and 98 computer name changes

I have 850 Windows 95/98 PC's at over 300 remote locations and I need to change the name on all of them. I have searched for a command line solution with no luck. Anyone out there know how to do this by command line or with a script?
Also have another 400 W2K+ to do...ideas there would be much appreciated as well!
These are all in workgroups not domains.
